Chueca isn’t an administrative council area, but an area belonging to the district of Justicia, bordering Calle Santa Engracia, Barquillo, Hortaleza and Gran Via. The name of Chueca has gained an important prestige in and out of Spain. It is the perfect example of a gay village.

Along its colourful streets live Chueca’s native residents with the gay community who moved here looking for a tolerant and respectful neighbourhood. The local businesses share the streets with trendy, fashionable and the most extravagant shops.
